Dresden at Christmastime

600 years of tradition and memories the whole family will never forget

Dresden at Christmastime is something else entirely. This beautiful city in eastern Germany has been hosting the Striezelmarkt since 1434, making it one of the oldest Christmas markets in the world. With hundreds of stalls, the scent of cinnamon and roasted almonds drifting through the air, and the world's tallest Christmas pyramid spinning in the square, it sets a standard that's genuinely hard to beat.

The whole family found something to love. Fresh Dresdner Stollen straight from the source, handcrafted nutcrackers and Erzgebirge wooden figurines to hunt for, steaming mugs of Glühwein and hot chocolate, and all of it framed by Dresden's breathtaking Baroque architecture lit up for the holidays. It's the kind of place where you keep wandering back to that one stall just one more time.

But honestly, the best part was experiencing all of it together. Dresden doesn't just put on a Christmas show for visitors. It genuinely feels like Christmas lives here, and bringing the whole family along made every single moment hit that much harder.
